A typical appe served by me with green chutney

Ingredients Required:
  • 1 cup Sooji/Rawa
  • 1/2 cup Moong sprouts
  • 1/2 cup curd
  • Water as required
  • 1/4th cup roasted & coarsely grounded peanuts(with skin removed)
  • 8-10 Curry Leaves (finely chopped)
  • 1/4th cup green peas
  • Finely chopped veggies as per your choice (Onion, carrot, capsicum, beans, tomato, green chillies etc)
  • Ghee 4-5 teaspoons
  • Salt as per taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1/2 spoon red chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chat masala
Let's start:
  • Add curd and sooji well, add water to it to get a flowing consistency batter (Like dosa batter) and keep it aside for half an hour.
  • After half an hour take the batter (it would have become a little thicker in consistency) and add green peas, peanuts, curry leaves, chopped veggies, salt, red chilli powder, coriander powder, chat masala
  • Add water if required to make a not so thick/thin batter.
  • Grease an appe pan and keep on gas. Put the batter in the moulds (batter should not overflow from the moulds).
  • Cook on medium flame for 5 mins and then grease the ghee on the appe with the help of a brush or spoon and then cook from the other side too.
  • Once cooked, remove the pan from the gas and take out appe, serve hot with green chutney or any dip of your choice.
